Lightning Car Company is based in Peterborough, England and builds high performing sport type electric vehicles. The original model produced by lightning was called the Lightning GT. It was a modeled after a gas-powered car made by Ronart Cars. The GT uses a lithium titanate battery and the car’s body is constructed of a carbon fibre and Kevlar composite. It features a smoking-fast PML Flightlink Hi-Pa drive which allows it to go from zero to 60 in under 4 seconds! The GT sells for approximately 120,000 pounds.
The Gt actually uses 4 individual 120 kw motors. This provides it with all-wheel drive as well as regenerative braking. The total output of the 4 motors combined is about 480 kw. The battery is an advanced 36 kw model which can travel 188 miles on a single charge. Depending on the output of the outlet where it’s plugged in, the Lightning GT can be fully recharged in an amazing 10 minutes. The battery’s lifespan is 12 years and can be recharged 15,000 times.
