- Smith Electric Cars -
Smith Electric Vehicles produces a line of electric delivery vans in the United Kingdom. The company is a division of Tanfield Group. Smith was originally created in the early 1900`s as manufacturer of battery powered milk floats and bread vans for commercial use. As milk delivery business decreased they decided to go into the business of engineering electric delivery vans.
Their van line is labeled the Newton and the vans can go at a top speed of 50 mph and go more than 150 miles distance before they need a recharge. Smith also produces a few other styles of vehicles for various uses. They produce 2 panel van models one is the Ampere and the other is the Edison. They also produce a line of Taxi cabs.
Smith vehicles are very cost effective and only cost a few cents a mile to run. They're also very convenient to charge for operations which stay busy 24 hours a day. The engines in Smith vehicles feature only 4 moving parts so they're incredible easy to maintain and rarely require repairs.
The fact that these vehicles put out zero emissions also keeps their environmental impact down to almost nothing. Many contractors are seeking businesses that use electric vehicles in their fleets so that can give you an advantage over competitors as well. These vehicles are excellent in urban environments and slow traffic because they require no gear changes and they are whisper quiet.
