Universal Electric Vehicle Corporation has been producing a line of high quality electric cars and alternative fuel vehicles since 1998. Their current vehicle series is known as the Electrum and features two unique vehicles. The first is called the Spyder. The Spyder is a 2-seater sports car with a convertible top can hit speeds of up to 80 mph. The Spyder`s nickel-zinc battery can go 150 miles on a single charge and the car can be upgraded with a lithium-ion battery which will give the car a total range of 300 miles.
Universal`s other vehicle is called the COM V-3 which is a 3-wheeler built to carry 2 passengers. This model also has an impressive 80 mph top speed and an up to 150 mile range. The bodies of both the Spyder and the COM V-3 are constructed from a polyester fiberglass composite material. The underlying chassis of both vehicles is constructed form steel. UEV has also announced plans to develop vehicles designed for user friendliness for physically challenged drivers.
